RIP Andrew Wyeth

Famed American painter Andrew Wyeth died at the age of 91. He was in the middle of a Wyeth family painter dynasty. He was the son of illustrator N.C. Wyeth and the father of Jamie Wyeth. Andrew was probably the most famous particularly for the painting "Christina's World" and his series of paintings of his muse Helga. He was a classic.

I have the book of his Helga series-fantastic work. Although he had respect and fame, I think much of the fine art establishment labeled him as an illustrator, which to many in that crowd is the kiss of death. However, no one denied his technical abilities and breadth and quality if his work.

It's fun ny how you know of someone but find out a lot more about him after they die. Reading about how hostile the modern art critics were to him really makes me despise them.

snot nosed punks.

Of course I liked N.C. better.
